Album Review - Szigeti Juli Wild & Groovy

Szigeti Juli
Wild & Groovy Album Review

A highly anticipated album to drop this year is Szigeti Juli's Wild & Groovy.
The charming and infectious band from Hungary, lead by singer Juli Szigeti, burst onto the scene a couple of years ago with minor hits like, "Let It All Out," and, "Light." Then their remake of Meghan Trainor's hit, "All About That Bass," cracked the Top 10 and brought them international attention.
Now their songs regularly reach the Top 10 including, "Free Your Mind," and, "Dance." They've even tackled Rufus and Chaka Khan's funky international hit, "Ain't Nobody."
Their smoothest track, "Don't Stop," has the sexiest piano riff on the planet and became their first Number 1.
They quickly followed it up with another feel good chart topper, "Feel So Happy."
They recently teamed with Atom Smith on latest hit, "Swing Delusion," and it opens Szigeti Juli's Wild & Groovy new album.
Atom Smith has been dropping some pretty dark radio friendly bangers lately with Donna De Lorey. And yes that would be the Donna De Lorey that worked with Madonna and Niki Haris.
Szigeti Juli and Atom Smith's collaboration, "Swing Delusion," is a swinging dance number featuring some wicked clarinet. (Dancer, Miss Magnolia serves some seriously savage dance moves in the music video available for the song.)
After "Swing Delusion," there's a nice mix of their popular hits. "All About That Bass," and "Dance," are here. "Moonlight," and chart toppers, "Don't Stop" and, "Feel So Happy," are also represented.
The back end of the album is a selection of instrumental versions of their more popular tracks. I'm on the fence about including instrumental versions of tracks on an album but found I was getting my karaoke on pretty quickly.
The majority of the tracks on the album are produced by the legendary Wolfgang Lohr and have been released as singles.
Wild & Groovy serves as a sort of greatest hits compilation for Szigeti Juli covering the first portion of the these turbulent 20s.
Szigeti Juli are a guilty pleasure and this feel good collection of music will bring joy to any listener. It's the kind of album that makes you feel so happy.

Wild & Groovy is on Electro Swing Thing Records
