Happy New Year! Welcome back to the blog. It's the first weekend of the year, 2022, and we're just going to jump right into the chart action. But just a reminder, Betty Booom and La Petit Orchestre ruled the chart for the last two weeks with, "Mr Sandman." Will they hang on for a third?
We'll start off with this week's Big Swinging Shoutout. It goes out to...
..Smokey Joe & The Kid
War Is Over
Smokey Joe & The Kid return with another round of Hip Hop, Jazz and Blues bangers to chill and party to. Guests on War Is Over include CW Jones, Blackout Jo and Blake Worrell to help bring the Swing Hop awesomeness to a whole other level.
First track to chart from the album, "Somehow," is a smooth groovy statement about falling in love and climbs into the Top 10 to start off the countdown this week.

The Swing Bot's, "The Tailor," slips to number 9. "The Tailor," has been in the Top 10 for all of its chart life. So far 10 weeks.
Odd Chap and Little Violet stay at number 8 with, "Crazy Out There."
DJ Farrapo and Carlo Maver move up six positions to stop at 7. Their energetic tropical remix of, "El Cabron," from Morru is keeping us warm this Winter.
Last week's Number 1 from Betty Booom and La Petit Orchestre falls to 6. Their remake of the classic, "Mr Sandman," drops five spots.
The Speakeasy Streets' latest club hit, "Sweet Deceit (SpekrFreks Remix)," leaps from 22 to 5. And Szigeti Juli's, "Feel So Happy," steps up from 17 to 4 to give us the last of the Top 10 entries.
Top Swinging Entry in the Top 50 this week goes to Caravan Palace with, "Black Betty." The death of television legend Betty White helped propel it back onto the chart. She starred in numerous comedic roles over the years including her starring role on The Golden Girls. "Golden Twenties," from Wolfgang Lohr and Alanna Lyes also returns at 21. And Mista Trick and Elle & The Pocket Belles come in with, "Golden Sound," at 38.
Valerie Giglio is still slowly climbing. She makes her way to number 3 with, "Bootleg Baby."
Bart&Baker's hit, "Last Night A DJ Swang My Life," jumps to 2. It features Minnie Valentine.
And starting the year off hard, Duke Skellington and Hypeman Sage step up to number 1. Their hit collaboration, "Simon Says," is the first Number 1 of 2022. Happy New Year!
For Duke Skellington, it's his 8th Top 10 and 4th Number 1. For Hypeman Sage it's the Rapper's 3rd Top 10 and 2nd Number 1.
Hypeman Sage also completes the rare chart feat of topping the chart and bottoming. His version of, "Mr Sandman," with Mista Trick, is down at the very bottom of the chart at number 50. The last act to do so was Szigeti Juli back in June of 2021. "Don't Stop," was #1 and, "All About That Bass," was at 50.
